In England, everybody sings this song at 12.00. It's a goodbye song to the old year. It was written by Robert Burns (1759-1796), a well-known Scottish poet and people hold hands while singing it.

I hope you had a GREAT long weekend and now you are relaxed and calm. Watch this video to see why it is so dangerous to translate from Spanish. It's very funny so I hope you enjoy it.
and ... the second one:
this has to do with phonetics and tells you why it is so important to have a good pronunciation. you need to know these words.
piece (with long i:) and piss (with short I)
fork (with long o:) and fuck (with v)

International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women.
Yesterday, 25th November we celebrated the International Day against Domestic Violence. This day has been celebrated since 1960 and the date was chosen to honour the Mirabal sisters who had been killed on that day many years before in the Dominican Republic for their involvement in the fight against the fascist government. The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus is a fantasy film directed by Terry Gilliam and written by Gilliam and Charles McKeown. The film follows the leader of a travelling theatre troupe who, having made a deal with the Devil, takes audience members through a magical mirror to explore their imaginations.
Christopher Plummer, Tom Waits, and Heath Ledger star in the film, though Ledger's death one-third of the way through filming caused production to be temporarily suspended. Ledger's role was recast with Johnny Depp, Jude Law, and Colin Farrell portraying transformations of Ledger's character Tony as he travels through a dream world.
The film's world premiere was during the 62nd Cannes Film Festival, out of competition. The UK release of the film was scheduled for 6 June 2009 but pushed back to 16 October 2009 due to its successful premiere at Cannes
